There are many advantages in adding rubber powder to e.g. ship paint. The surface is sealed more effectively thus slowing corrosion and rusting of the surface. Protection against ultraviolet radiation is increased and smaller rough areas are filled and smoothed. All this extends the duration of the paint so maintenance intervals can be longer. Furthermore, the surface is more durable and has anti-skid properties.

Rubber powder content in ship paint can be up to 30%.
