FAQ

Can the football players get turf burns if they make sliding tackles?
No, that was actually one of the problems with the first two generations of artificial turf but with the technology of the 3rd generation, this has been solved.

Can the football players get scratches from steel in the infill?
No, High Performance Infill from Genan is clean and free from steel contamination.

Is there a risk of a soil and water contamination from an artificial turf pitch?

No, several independent studies have shown no risk from migration of pollutants.

Is the ball rebound the same as on natural turf?
Yes, the specification of artificial turf is composed in order to simulate exactly the same rebound as on natural turf.

Are the passings between the football players faster or slower on an artificial turf pitch?
Most football players claim that ball speed is the same, however, some players are claiming that the ball passes a bit faster on artificial turf.

Why has FIFA included artificial turf in its recommendations?

Artificial turf is economical because the turf can be used much more than natural turf. It can be played on all year round, no matter the weather conditions, and it does not have to rest between matches in order to protect the grass. Maintenance costs are much lower than natural turf and dependency on natural resources like water is usually non-existant.

Another very important issue for FIFA is the development of good football in the third world. Normally resources are not present in order to maintain natural turf because of the water consumption and other maintenance costs. But artificial turf opens up for the development of many young talents in poor countries.

Can you play all year round on artificial turf pitch?
Yes, the only requirement is to remove the snow, if present!

How expensive is an artificial turf pitch to maintain compared to natural turf?

The answer to this question varies a lot depending on the geography. But as a rule of thumb the savings by having artificial turf increases the more extreme the climate. In very cold and very dry areas the savings are enormous. But savings are considerable no matter the place.

Is it true that the ball and the players are getting dusty from playing on artifial turf pitch?

No, if you use Genan High Performance Infill the dust is removed.
